Jo Gibson has been appointed director of HR at the London Marriott WestIndia Quay Hotel and Executive Apartments. In her new role, she will be incharge of recruitment, training and development for the entire team of around220 staff. The Home Secretary David Blunkett has announced three appointments to theCommission for Racial Equality (CRE). Mohammed Aziz, Julia Chain and DigbyJones have all been appointed part-time commissioners as part of the CRE’smodernisation programme. Mills Group, the convenience store operator, has created a new HR departmentas part of the company’s growth plans. Following the acquisition of 27 storesat the end of last year, Mills Group now employs more than 1,200 people.Heading up the new department will be Dawn Norton.The HR team at international law firm DLA has been strengthened by thearrival of senior associate Adam Hartley, who joins the Leeds office. Its HRteam currently boasts three partners and eight solicitors and is one of thebusiest in the region, advising private and public sector employers on allaspects of employment and HR issues.
