WHITTIER – The Planning Commission’s consideration of a proposed 34,000-square-foot sanctuary for the Whittier Area Community Church, 8175 Villa Verde Drive, was postponed Monday until Jan. 7. The 2,000-member church needs to submit a grading plan before the commission can take up the expansion plans that also will include additional parking that would be expanded east to Colima Road, connecting with the Murphy Ranch Little League property. A traffic signal would also be installed on Colima Road at the existing Murphy Ranch entrance. Some residents have criticized the plan for the larger sanctuary, saying it will increase traffic on their already overburdened street.
