Kadaknath over grilled chicken: Virat Kohli, BCCI get a diet recommendation

first_imgKrishi Vigyan Kendra, Jhabua, one of the agricultural extension centres in India, has offered a diet recommendation to India cricket team captain, Virat Kohli, and his teammates, saying they should prefer “Kadaknath” chicken – an Indian breed of chicken local to Madhya Pradesh – over grilled chicken. The centre in Madhya Pradesh has written a letter to Virat Kohli and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has claimed that Kadaknath chicken is low on both cholesterol and fat and that the senior national team players can fulfill their chicken requirement by including the said breed in their diet.In the letter, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, writes: It has been known by the media that Virat Kohli and other players of India cricket team are eating Grilled Chicken in their diet. But due to higher quantities of cholesterol and fat in Grilled Chicken, you are stop it’s in your diet and adopted vegan diet (sic).””Krishi Vigyan Kendra Jhabua (Kadaknath Research Centre) wants to suggest Virat Kohli and BCCI that in the meat of Jhabua’s Kadaknath chickens the cholesterol and fat are very low with higher protein and iron content as per report of National Research Centre on Meat Hyderabad. Therefore, you and your team members are fulfill (sic) your chicken requirement by Jhabua’s Kadaknath chickens.”The recommendation comes, months after Kohli revealed he has switched to a vegan diet to further improve his fitness. The India captain, who is arguably one of the fittest cricketers going around, had adopted a strict diet and workout plans after giving up his love for butter chicken following a rare period of poor form in 2012.advertisement”Two years ago, when he was on a normal diet, he had said that he would go vegan if given a choice. He is now feeling stronger than before. Kohli started this diet four months ago and is feeling stronger as his digestive power has increased. He isn’t missing meat, eggs or dairy,” a source was quoted as saying by The Times of India. However, Kohli had revealed his diet plan in a chat show “Breakfast with Champions” in 2017, that he generally preferred grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, spinach and veggies for lunch and seafood for dinner.”I have a set breakfast. I eat an omelette, three egg whites, one whole egg. The spinach black pepper and cheese, some grilled bacon or smoked salmon along with it. I eat papaya or dragon fruit if it’s available or watermelon. I eat decent amount of cheese for good fats. I carry my own butters and I get gluten free bread from the hotels…so I apply on that. Then a nice big pot of green tea with lemon, I drink three to four cups of that,” Kohli had said.”When our trainer Mr. Basu tells me to put on a bit of muscle then I increase red meat. Otherwise generally for lunch it’s grilled chicken and mashed potatoes, spinach and veggies and for dinner it’s seafood.”Also Read | Virat Kohli turns vegan in bid to further improve fitnessAlso Read | Australian Prime Minister to Rishabh Pant: Aah yes!
